Free radicals otherwise known as cellular by products are created during cellular metabolism and antioxidants stick to them. When they bind together the potentially harmful free radicals become harmless. If they were left alone they can potentially cause heart problems, cancer, cataracts, strokes and other immune issues. Naturally antioxidants can be found and ingested in fruit and vegetables like spinach, carrots, and broccoli. Through vitamins they can be ingested through Vitamins A, E, C and selenium. Supplementing your diet with antioxidants is recommended for people dieting, the elderly, smokers, people with weak immune systems, people who drink a lot or take a lot of aspirin.
