Hold that sleeping pill until you know!
Beginning a sleeping pill regimen is no remedy for insomnia. They are often habit forming and can become less effective when used continuously. Some of their side effects include indigestion, mental confusion, skin rashes, kidney and liver problems, lowered resistance to infection, high blood pressure, circulatory and respiratory problems, poor appetite and other conditions. However, due to the drug classification of sleeping pills, government agencies conduct laboratory tests, regulate and provide guidelines to show measurable benefits with minimum risks at recommended dosages. Instead of using a sleeping pill, consider other recommended options, including home remedies for insomnia. Make a commitment toward a healthier lifestyle with regular exercising; a reduction of excess weight; restricting the use of coffee, stimulants and alcohol at least four hours prior to retiring; reduce distractions such as light and telephones, etc; A comfortable bed, with room temperature about 60 degrees Fahrenheit, may also help to provide restful sleep. Alternative therapies that may replace the sleeping pill include herbal remedies and diet. Deep breathing and relaxation exercises are also promoted. For a good night’s sleep, try a popular product known as melatonin with vitamin B6 and kava kava.
