We all need food to live and eating it is the first part of the process of reaping the nutrients we need. The food must be converted to energy and other things the body uses. This process is call digestion. Digested molecules of food, water and minerals from the diet, are absorbed from the cavity of the upper small intestine. The absorbed materials cross the mucosa into the blood, and are carried off in the bloodstream to other parts of the body for storage or further chemical change. This process varies with different types of nutrients. The digestion begins with enzymes in the mouth and though out the system different functions release different nutrients our bodies need. Understanding the process can keep you healthy. Food is important to how efficient our digestion is. It is easy to find information on the things to eat that will improve the way your body digests food and the best ways to reap the most from the nutrients you hope to absorb. Education is the key to healthy eating. Many people find food and dietary supplements a great asset to their digestion.
