Besides water, three quarters of our bodies are made up of amino acids. These guys are responsible for, and facilitate, every reaction in the human body. Because amino acids play such a crucial role in the functioning of the body, it is important for them to be consistantly ingested. These acids are amazing in their ability to heal. Amino acids can play all sorts of roles in repairing the body and keeping the body maintained. Supplements such as leucine, isoleucine and valine help keep the muscles strong and healthy. Especially if you are active, these supplements help your body construct amino acids as you use them. Other supplements such as histidine offer assistance in problems like arthritis while lysine and taurine help lower colesterol levels. Doing research on which supplements are good for you will make you aware of your health. Amino acids not on assist with the reconstruction of the active body, but they also help prevent mental stress. GABA is a common supplement that is used to combat insomnia. The acids help calm the nerves allowing the person to sleep. Doctors usually prescribe s-adenosyl-methionine (SAMe) to assist patients in fighting off depression, and taurine to ward off bipolar illness and epilepsy.
