At the University of Geneva, Switzerland, clinical trial have appered to confirm that green tea for weight loss raises metabolic rates and speeds up fat oxidation. Ten healthy young men were chosen as subjects in this research, none of who were obese, they ranged from lean to slightly overweight body frames. A typical North American non-weight-loss diet averaging 40% fat was prescribed three meals per day containing green tea for weight loss, 50 mg of caffeine and a placebo capsule. Each of the subjects was confined for 24 hours in a respiratory chamber where thermogeneisis and energy expenditure was carefully measured. When it was gauged, the subjects on green tea for weight loss thermogenesis showed a 4% increase, which indicated the overall expenditure had increased by 4.5%. Since caffeine is known to increase the heart rate rhythum and the caffeine in coffee is much greater, green tea for weight loss is proving to be a powerful medical alternative.
